    First, submit your documents to an authorized notary public for notarization. This step is necessary for documents like affidavits and personal documents. The notary public will certify your documents as genuine, officially starting the attestation process.

  • Step 2: SDM/Home Department/ Chamber of Commerce is responsible for getting the Authentication

    Next, send your documents for state-level verification: 

    • For personal documents like marriage and birth certificates, the state Home Department or SDM will validate and stamp them.
    • Educational certificates need to be verified by the Human Resource Development (HRD) department.
    • For commercial documents (any business-related document), the Chamber of Commerce (CoC) carries out the verification.
  • Step 3: The significance of MEA attestation in Colombia document validation.

    Then, take your verified documents to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). They will perform the final national verification and put an official verification stamp on your documents. Now, they are ready for embassy attestation.

  • Step 4: Aim of the Colombian Attestation.

    Finally, submit your MEA-stamped documents to the Colombian Embassy in India. Embassy officials will complete the last stage of attestation. Once stamped by the embassy, your documents become legally valid for any official or personal use in Colombia.
