Transfer Certificate Attestation Procedure

There are 4 stages of verification involved in getting your child’s LC/ TC attested by the foreign embassy. Here is a simple explanation:
Step1: Issuing authority and notarization is needed.
The process of transfer certificate attestation in India starts by having the school do initial verification. Later, you need to get the LC notarized by a notary public in some cases.
Now, take your child’s leaving certificate to the Human Resource Development (HRD) of your state. They will validate the transfer certificate and put their stamp on it. In some cases, additional verification by the Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) may be needed.

After the state-level verification, take your child’s LC to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for Indian level verification. They will put their unique stamp and the LC is now ready for the final stage.

Locate the foreign embassy of your destination country in India and take the MEA-stamped transfer certificate to them. Since each country’s embassy has a different process, they will follow a unique protocol to attest the transfer certificates. Once attested, the leaving certificate is ready for use abroad.
