Power of Attorney Attestation Procedure

There are 4 steps to get your power of attorney attested.

Step1: Notarization is needed.

The process of attesting your power of attorney document starts with notarization where a notary public verifies your document.

If your power of attorney is related to business or comes under the commercial document, then it is verified by the Chamber of Commerce (CoC). if your power of attorney falls under personal documents, it is verified by your state’s home department. Additionally, a Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) can also validate your document.

Once done, present your documents to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) where they verify your POA again and stamp it.

Finally, take your verified POA to the foreign embassy in India for final verification. Once the embassy attests your document, you can use it in their country abroad.
