Transcript Attestation Procedure

To make your Transcript acceptable abroad, it has to go through 4 stages of verification.

Step1: Issuing authority and notarization is needed.

The first step is the validation of your transcript by the issuing institute or university. Additionally, notarization by a notary public is needed.

Step 2: HRD attestation for Transcript

In the next step, you have to take your notarized transcripts to Human Resource Development (HRD) where they will reverify your transcript. Sometimes, it can be verified by the Sub-divisional Magistrate.

Step 3: MEA Attestation of the Transcript

Once your state approves your transcript, it gets forwarded to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) which re-verifies your transcripts. Once everything is clear, they will add their official stamp meaning the final verification is done from India.

Step 4: Embassy attestation for Consular level verification

In the last step, you have to take your MEA-stamped transcript to the embassy of your destination country in India. Depending upon the embassy, they’ll re-verify your transcript and give an embassy attestation stamp, making your transcript officially recognized there.
